Gameplay
This time you don't only spend a long time in the Animus, you actually have more gameplay outside of the Animus too. Like exploring the sanctuary in the beginning of the game. It's fresh and new. You can also exit the Animus whenever you want to explore the Auditore villa in the present. In the Animus you must choose memories yourself. If you do them in the right order and do a special objective, you will unlock certain things. You can now replay them whenever you want. If you take down a Borgia captain and ignite the tower, you can buy a piece of property for the whole city to use.
Combat system
The combat system has once again been improved. The guards have much less health now, which is good because it took forever to kill them in II. You can now kick enemies to disable their defences. Another great feature is that you can fire your gun while your sword is equipped by holding X. There's also the new execution streak which allows you to do multiple executions in a row.
Story
Ezio goes home after the whole incident with the Spaniard and the "goddess". He tells everything she told him to his family. Now that he's home, he celebrates by helping a few people and having sex with a hot red head (Caterina). But then the village gets attacked. Ezio must arm the cannons and defeat the incoming guards. But the enemy is too powerful. Uncle Mario gets killed. Ezio gets brutaly wounded. Ezio and his mom and sister escape the village through a hidden passageway. He sets on a quest to Rome. But along the way he falls off his horse. Desmond wakes up from the Animus. The team goes to the Auditore villa in the present to find the sanctuary and it's also the only hiding spot that's left. Desmond starts to see visions of people. This is caused by the Animus. (as explained in the sedond game) Desmond then goes to find the sanctuary with Lucy. After all that the team sets up the Animus in there. Desmond has to go around town to switch on the electricity. Then it's time to go into the Animus once again. Ezio than wakes up in Rome. He has to climb the church to get a good look out. Once he jumps from it, he sees guards working for the Borgia. He follows them and kills them.
