You are Max Payne and have moved out of New York to San Paulo, to protect a family with a new partner you have met in New Jersey. Later everything goes to shit...

The gameplay is pretty good. Of course bullet time is back, like in the other games. But now the game has a cover system, which is really useful. Because of this I didn't find myself using bullet time so much until the end of the game. It also makes the game play more like GTA IV.

The first few missions are pretty okay. They're not as action-packed as some of the later missions. The later missions sometimes tend to drag on too long though and the checkpoints become unforgiving. The amount of painpills you can get, get pretty scarce too. What's added now is Last Man Standing. If someone shoots and you and you lose all your health, you get a chance to kill your killer. You have about 10 seconds to shoot your killer indicated by your aiming-dot becoming red. If you succeed, you use a painkiller and get to continue playing with half your health replenished. If you fail, you die and have to start from the checkpoint.

The game has some nice eastereggs. You can collect golden gun parts to make your guns gold (although it has no further purpose other than they look virtually awesome), you can collect clues (which give you some nice info on what's going on) and you can even watch two fully animated Captain Baseball Bat Boy episodes (One in English, one in Spanish)

What's too bad though is that the story is told through cutscenes rather than a voice-over comicbook. Instead they add all these video effects to "emulate" the "feel of a comicbook", though I just find it annoying and unnecessary.

All in all, good game, not as good as the first two, but that's because it's one of those "game sequel that came many many many years after the other ones" games. I can't wait for the new game in Rockstar's most famous franchise: Grand Theft Auto V.

I give it a 7.5
